About

Life for Graciela Vizcaíno has been a series of incursions into art, from theater at a young age, to classical ballet, jazz dance and tap to painting. Her love of animals, nature and the nuances of human life are her inspiration and have always been the strongest thematic underpinnings of everything she ever wishes to express. Over the past couple of years her focus has been on portraiture and exploring the intricacies of her north-eastern Mexican cultural background and life in Colorado. On any given day you would find her reading, walking "Peanut", and painting.

I grew up in northeastern Mexico, where folklore and family traditions are part of everyday life. Mystery often lies just beneath the surface of ordinary moments.

Living in Colorado has filled my life with a new sense of wonder. The mountains and wild places have become as much part of my artistic language as the folklore and traditions I grew up with in Mexico. Today, I create watercolor paintings exploring the thresholds where memory, nature, dreams and human experience meet.

I hope each painting offers viewers a momento to pause, wonder and reconnect with the mystery that exists both in the natural world and within ourselves.
