The\u00a0<em>Xoloitzcuintli<\/em>\u00a0held a special place in his heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Mexican tradition, the&nbsp;<em>Xolo<\/em>&nbsp;is believed to be a psychopomp\u2014a faithful companion that guides the souls of the departed across the threshold into the afterlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I painted, I imagined&nbsp;<em>Xolita<\/em>&nbsp;coming to meet my father, gently leading him on the next stage of his journey. This painting became a way of transforming grief into gratitude, and of honoring the hope that love continues beyond what we can see.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>10 \u00d7 14 in.
